Regular racegoer and regular Fashions on the Field contestant Brooke Marjoribanks has been named the 2016 Face of Weetwood for the forthcoming Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood on Saturday April 16.
The local milliner extends her talents to the sports field, where she is a netball coach at a local Toowoomba school.
Mrs Marjoribanks is also a racing enthusiast and a regular racegoer at Clifford Park, attending Weetwood annually and enjoys all aspects of Toowoomba’s premier event.
Possessing a passion for fashion, Brooke is a regular contestant in the Fashions on the Field competitions, including being awarded the trifecta in 2014 at Weetwood, Toowoomba Cup Day and Clifford Park’s Melbourne Cup Day.
Mrs Marjoribanks entered the annual Face of Weetwood competition to enhance the profile of Weetwood in the community, combined with her love of horse racing and millinery.
“I grew up on a property east of Roma before moving to Toowoomba ten years ago to peruse my career in finance,” Brooke Marjoribanks said.
“Being a country girl, I enjoy being part of community events and experiencing what the Darling Downs has to offer.
“My racing interests extend to fashion including millinery, raceday hospitality and racehorse ownership.
“I love exploring the racing carnivals in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast and not forgetting, what we have on offer in our backyard, on the Darling Downs,” Mrs Marjoribanks said.
As the Face of Weetwood, Brooke will represent Clifford Park at all Weetwood events, including; Weetwood Golf Day (Monday April 11), Breakfast with the Weetwood Stars (Tuesday April 12), Barrier Draw luncheon (Wednesday April 13), Weetwood Calcutta dinner (Friday April 15) and the Audi Centre Weetwood on Saturday April 16.
“As someone who enjoys attending a variety of racedays, I’d like to show people of all ages what an enjoyable and entertaining day it is at the track,” Mrs Marjoribanks said.
Toowoomba Turf Club (TTC) Chief Executive Officer Blair Odgers was thrilled by the quantity and quality of applicants, endorsing the community spirit that surrounds the history of Weetwood.
“The applicants were outstanding and the selection process was again extremely difficult,” Mr Odgers said.
“It is humbling to meet a number of wonderful ladies in our community that are so passionate about racing and in particular, the Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood.
“Brooke, as the Face of Weetwood, will assist with raising the profile of the Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood locally as well as interstate.
“The community is extremely proud of this event and Brooke will represent the Weetwood and all associated events with confidence, style and sophistication,” Odgers said.
